Finals

This is me right now in dealing with finals. Its painful, very painful! Last week and this week are the ugliest weeks we have had yet. It will be Christmas soon and I will be curled up with a good book and some hot cocoa if I can make it through this week. I am so excited to get to finally spend some good quality time with my boys!! I want to make some cookies, go sledding and get in some good Christmas shopping!

Half Way Point

I am officially through the 1st half of my 1st semester and I am stressed and exhausted and living off hot chocolate and cereal ...... but I am LOVING IT! Most days ... lol
I am rockin and rolling and doing really well ... so far. I have learned tons, the fun stuff being, injections, suturing, IV's, blood draws, and physicals ....

Broadie and Scott are doing excellent and the best supporters I could ever ask for.
Nothing else is new in our lives. I am just excited for Thanksgiving when I can go into a TURCOMA for a full week. (Yes, I am still with it enough to crack jokes)

Its about TIME

Ok, so I know I have been a bum about posting and I will definitely do more of an update later but I have to first say that I have FIREWORKS going on inside me right now from pure excitement, joy, and I don't even know what else .... and I bet you want to know why and what is going on don't you!! .... Well here it goes! I received a phone call this morning that I have been waiting for for years!!

I WAS ACCEPTED!!!! YES I WAS!!! I have been accepted into the MPA program (Masters Physician Assistant) and it starts on TUESDAY!!!!! Holy cow!! Big news for me so I had to share ... I have waited for so long and worked so stinking hard and it finally happened. And how ironic that I received the acceptance on Friday the 13th .... weird, but I will take it for sure!! So wish me luck because here we go into a couple of very difficult years!

Take the Pledge

Take the pledge to drive without talking on your cell phone or texting! I did and I am hoping to see lots of you join me in this.

I used to have such a bad habit of talking on the phone while driving, I admit it. But, I realized what a horrible example I was setting for my son. I also think it does take your attention away from where it should be. So, I am done talking on the phone while driving and I hope you all are also.

Leave me a comment if you are going to TAKE THE PLEDGE!

Home

So one rainy weekend I decided the kids needed a picnic table, so Scotty and I made one. ... yes he let me help and use the saw :-)
We found a new friend in our tree ... we will call it chee chee jr.

My family should understand the name ;-) but he is a cute lil fella and I hope Odie doesn't eat him

Natural Disasters of 2010

It seems as if we have had so many natural disasters already this year and it is only have way through the year. I decided to put together a slide show of some neat pictures showing just a hand full of the disasters that have happened. In all of these disasters my heart goes out to all of the people and animals that have suffered. But it is AMAZING what Mother Nature can pull out of her sleeve! All the more reason to always be prepared. I didn't mention ALL of the disasters because it would have made this way too long.

I do realize the oil spill is not a natural disaster but I believe it has created one. I am not a total environmentalist but what this has done to the environment is just really sad. And now that we are entering into hurricane season, I hope BP realizes that if they think oil and water don't mix, well oil spills and hurricanes really won't mix. Gonna be a mess!

Pictures from May ... Aquarium in Salt Lake

These are pictures from the first week of May, a few days before Zach and Laura's wedding, I took the kids to the aquarium to get them out of the house and into some fun. It was a blast. It is such a neat little aquarium. Sorry some of the pictures are fuzzy, my sis is a slacker in sending me he original pictures :0 ... kadi I love you still .... also at the end of the slideshow are some cute pictures of when all of us girls went and got pedicures, it was tons of fun.

Oh and CONGRATULATIONS TO MY HUBBY! He officially has is MASTERS IN ENGINEERING! He finished his defense on his project today and he rocked! I am so PROUD of him and all his hard work! He only has one more year until he finishes his MBA! Scotty you rock!

Here are some fun pictures of us this Easter. We had a great weekend, Saturday we went to Grace Idaho, we take the kids there every year for the Easter Egg Hunt. It snowed but the kids were able to get a lot of fun treats and sit on the bunny's lap.

We then went to Utah for Grandma Dona's annual family Easter Party. It was so fun, we had lots of good food, played on a very large blow up slide (which was the best thing ever for the kids, best way to burn lots of spring energy), had a doughnut eating contest and yes the doughnuts were frosted on both sides so it was messy, and the kids had a very nice easter egg hunt. All in all, as always, it was a great Easter with family!

My Loves

Doing what they do best! I am truely blessed to have such amazing boys in my life, they to are so special to me!

I love this picture

This is Broadie's first B-Ball game of the season. His team is the Diamond Backs and he is doing well this year. They won their first game 15-2!

I didn't get too many pictures because it was too much fun watching. This is the first year where it is not team coach and it was fun cuz the kids are not the best pitchers so the kids got hit a lot, but they are such good sports!

Pine Wood Derby

Scott and Broadie made this (mostly Broadie) but it looks pretty awesome .. he wanted it to be camo colors but we didn't have the right colors of paint so he made it work ... and the flames are made out of black magnet ... its awesome, the picture doesn't do it justice

The boys would race with their cars. It was pretty funny.

Broadie and Janessa racing (yes, they let her join in the fun because they are nice and there was on odd number of boys, she was so happy to be part of this)

Broadie's won for most colorful and Janessa won an award for the most sporty

Broadisms

Broadie has become quite the character lately, he has been cracking up funnies left and right so I thought I would share a few.

Yesterday as Scott and I were making dinner, Broadie was bored and asking what he could do. Here is how the conversation went:

B: I am bored, what can i do
Mom: You know what you can do, you can read Harry Potter
Dad: Or you know what you could do, you could play with legos and watch a movie
Mom: or you know what else you could do, you could color or draw
(all things broadie loves to do)
and the punch line is:
B: Mom, Dad, you KNOW WHAT YOU CAN DO, you can come and get the extra mattress out of my room ... he was so sarcastic it was hillarious!

Today, Broadie and Scott when to get the mail and Broadie asked Scott what was in the mail
Dad: a qwest advertisement, your dentist bill, and junk mail. Broadie do you want to pay your dentist bill?? (Being funny)
B: No, I didn't want to get my teeth pulled
Dad: Well, I don't really want to pay the bill because thats no fun either
B: I have an idea, we should make the orthodontist pay the bill because it was his idea to pull my teeth out!

haha, this kid just cracks me up, he has a crazy sense of humor!

I think it is cool

Ok so I am sure a few of you will not find this this is very cool, but I do so I wanted to share. This is the x-ray of my mouth that was taken right before my first surgery. The yellow circle shows where the mas was, the little red X shows the tooth they removed, the little tiny red line shows how low my sinus membrane is (which is why I need a sinus lift) and the pink line shows where they made incisions to get to the mass to take it out and remove all of the infection. Pretty sweet huh! I am doing well after the second surgery, better than what I thought at least. I go back in for a follow up tomorrow so we will see how things really are then.

And Again

So, I will be having surgery on my mouth again tomorrow. They are going to close the gaping hold in my mouth ... horray! I am excited to get it closed but not excited to have surgery again. Wish me luck, hopefully this time will be much less painful and I will heal better. And no, I still do not have the pathology reports for the mass ....... aaaahhhhh

Catching Up

Sorry for the blogging overload, lots has been going on and I have not been able to get caught up on all that has been happening since Broadies surgery. He is healed and back to normal thank goodness! The holidays went well, I am always sorry to see them go. I love holidays, good food, family and friend get-togethers, what can be better, I mean seriously!
I have had another run of bad luck and that is what has set me so far behind. I had to have surgery on my mouth (last Friday), they found a mass above one of my molars (top right). They had to take out my molar and make a few incisions to get the mass out, the mass was sitting above the tooth and in my sinus, and on top of all of that, it was infected really bad, so they had to clean all of that out too. So, I had that done one week ago today and things are not looking good. I have been in an incredible amount of pain (like rediculous amount) and the extraction site has opened up to my sinus (so basically air passed through the hole where my tooth was up through my nose, and no that is not normal or OK, it is excessively uncomfortable. When I drink water, it really comes out my nose), so on Monday I have to go back to the surgeons and find out what they are going to do to fix it and how. Yeah me! Not really, I am not thrilled about all of this. Then in 3 months, I get to go back and have surgery again, they will have to do a sinus lift and a bone graft because the mass deteriorated my bone. Hooray again. Then six months after that I get to have an implant tooth put in and a few months after that a crown put on ... so I get to go about 1 year without a tooth and I am not happy at all! I thought this was going to be my year of good health and it is not starting out well. Frustrating, especially because this first surgery did not go as well as anyone had hoped for!
On a good note, on Wednesday I interviewed for the Physician Assistant Program again. I felt like the interview went really really well, except for the fact that my face was still swollen and a little bruised from having surgery. So now the countdown begins, will I or will I not get in this year. Scott thinks yes, I am on the fence, and no one dares tell me I won't get in :-)
So I think that finally gets us caught up, up to date! Hooray!

Sledding Fun

For new years we (Scott, myself, and Broadie) went sledding with Ralph, Sam, their kids (Dylon and Sydnee), Matt and Janessa. There was just barely enough snow to go, but when it comes to sledding, we go as long as the hill is slick. We had a blast, the kids loved it. What a great way to say goodbye to 2009 and hello 2010!

Christmas 2009

Here are some pictures from Christmas. They are a little random but enojoy! The part that I absolutely loved was when Mr. & Mrs. Claus came over, they were absolutely adorable! The kids did get to sit on their lap but they also were able to read stories and sing songs with them. It was just so cute.

Horrocks Family Photo Shoot

OK, so I have been way behind on blogging but as you will soon see life has just been a real bugger of a life and I am just getting to the point where I can get caught up.
Here are some fun photos we had taken mid December. The enire family was able to get together (by entire family, I am referring to my sides entire family), which is a hard feet for us because we are so spread out.
But it was so great to get to see everyone, and now we have proof that we survived together! hahaha
