Pick Me Upper ..... I wanna do something

Thanks Shelese, this will be fun!

This is what you do:The first 3 people to respond to this post will get something made by me! My choice. For you. This offer does have some restrictions and limitations:

1. I make no guarantees that you will like what I make!
2. What I create will be just for you.
3. It'll be done this year.
4. You have no clue what it's going to be. I may bake you something and mail it to you. It may not be big or impressive. Who knows? Not you, that's for sure! So come on, sign up!
5. I reserve the right to do something extremely strange.

The catch? Oh, the catch is that you must re-post this on your blog and offer the same to the first 3 people who do the same on your blog. The first 3 people to do so and leave a comment telling me they did win a FAB-U-LOUS homemade gift by me!

Devastation

Well the news came out last night, I am on the PA alternate list, #21, so my chances of getting in this year are slim (basically unless 21 people don't want their seats then I am out of the running), needless to say I am absolutely devastated! I have cried non-stop since finding out! This is so frustrating!
I must say though, I do think I have one of the bestest girl friends and husbands that a woman could ever ask for. Brittnay came over and sat with me while I cried (she even brought me starbucks with a straw) and after about 2 hours she said that is it, we are going to dinner, and she took Broadie and me to Texas Roadhouse. It was so nice of her! I just love her so much! Every woman needs a good girl friend and I am so happy she is mine :-) She had to cancel an appointment so she could come sit with me while I cried, now that is a dedicated friend I think.
Scott come home from school at 10 pm and he showed up with a dozen long stem white roses to cheer me up and we stayed up and talked things through, and he just held me and comforted me and kept telling me that I am not a piece of poop like I feel. What a sweetheart huh! We talked about other options but I can't even think straight right now.
Needless to say, I still don't feel good about this, I am having a hard time, I have worked so hard and feel so shut down. I can't apply again until Fall which means I won't get in until Fall of 2010 and I have to go through this whole song and dance again. This is absolutely ridiculous! I guess making it as far as I did is good, considering over 600 applied and there are 30 seats available .... maybe not too bad ..... but of course, not good enough either!
Oh well, I guess, what else can I do. I thought about applying for med school, my chances of getting in are better ...... thoughts anyone?? Hawaii has a med school ........ ??????

I throw good parties

On Friday, I threw a baby shower for my sister in law, Jen, above is a diaper cake that I made for her, it was tons of fun to do. We then had a ton of people come over, had great food, and played a lot of fun games. She made out like a bandit too, she got so many presents! Now we just have to get the room painted and the crib / room set up, and she will be ready to go! Pretty exciting, I love babies :-). Broadie had a blast because his friend Dillan came over to play, Scott had fun because the men came to the party as well. It was a great time, we should do it again :-), haha
This is the after math of the party :-) I was kinda tired, and I think Odie was too! My pup loves to cuddle with his momma, Scott took the pic and I thought it was pretty funny!

I'm Bored I think ....

Well, I think I must be bored, I have been looking for little projects to do to fill my time .. so what do I do, I make cool curtains for Broadies Room :-) yup I am learning how to be crafty ... they match his room pretty good because he has planets up on his cealing so I thought this would be fun, the planets and stars I got off a fleese fabric and I cut them out and put them on the dark blue fabric ... Broadie loves it so I guess that is all that matters, then I also made him a solar system blanket for his bed, but I haven't given that to him yet, its for Valentines Day ...

Last weekend we went bowling with a fewof our friends, we had a blast and I just love these guys so I had to post a picture of our bestest friends :-)

Here we are again, at Applebees, our favorite:-)

A project finally finished and some rantings

See this chair, yes I made the cover that goes over it, I am crafty and it took over a year for me to do :-) haha, I couldn't figure out how to finish the bottom part so I never did :-) until yesterday, I had this wild brain idea and I tried it and it worked! HORRAY now the chair, once white and stained really bad looks pretty darn good for an amiture :-) I even re-stuffed parts of it so it now looks like a comfy overstuffed chair ... just makes me want to read a good book :-)

So, news in Idaho is not good, this article (below) was in the paper and I thought it important to share with other parents out there, I just hope people will stop turning a blind eye and realize how serious these problems are in schools. Kids do get bullied (Broadie has been bullied before), I think parents need to step up to the plate and actually discipline for it, actually they need to discipline period, I am so tired of parents just trying to be their kids best friends instead of their parents, I mean really!! Be the parent, that means teaching right from wrong, teaching them how to be respectful and polite to all, teaching manners, kids these days are so disrespectful and its not their fault, it is totally the parents fault. The article below is about a 3rd grader who tried to commit suicide because of bullying, this just really bothered me because Broads is about that same age.

BULLING'S COST
Third-grader reportedly attempted suicide
BY CASEY SANTEE

POCATELLO — Bullying at Syringa Elementary School culminated in Katrina Wardlow’s third-grade son climbing the tallest piece of equipment on the playground and jumping to the ground in an attempt to kill himself. Fortunately, the boy was not injured.
Wardlow is among a growing list of parents who have recently come forward with stories of bullying at the north Pocatello elementary school. Some of the victims have been transferred to other district schools as a result. In response to the problem, school officials sent home a survey Thursday asking parents if their children have been bullied. “There’s a lot of bullying at school bus stops. My son has had problems all year long. It goes on in the (school) hallways,” Wardlow said. Syringa officials declined to comment. District spokeswoman Shelley Allen said Syringa Principal Miffy Lane decided to draft the survey after meeting with concerned parents. Wardlow, of Chubbuck, said she tries to be proactive ongoing harassment by accompanying her son to the bus stop, where she sometimes stays until it arrives.
Wardlow said she’s told both Lane and school counselor Angie Brown about the problem, and while they listen and even speak to the bullies about the abuse, nothing seems to change.
“I know that Mrs. Lane and Angie do what they can to stop it. If I have a concern, I can call over there, and they will check into the concerns and they get back with me,” Wardlow said. “A lot of the stuff that goes on is some parents don’t discipline their kids. They pick on other kids, and pick on them, and pick on them, to where they’ve had enough.”
Wardlow said the majority of bullying centers on socio-economic divisions. She said the abuse is perpetrated by students whose parents have money and that those children tease the less fortunate youths and refuse to associate with them.
“The parents need to step up. Instead of saying, ‘My child doesn’t do that,’ find out if they are doing it. They need to do something rather than saying, ‘Let the school handle it,’” Wardlow said. “I’ve been called to the school because of my son before, and we take care of it at home. My kids get punished. They get stuff taken away and grounded.”
Obviously not enough is done about this problem!! This is happening in 3rd grade! Holy cow! On this same note, I was absolutely astounded the other day, we rented IGOR for Broadie to watch, it was rated G so naturally we thought no need to screen this movie right, WRONG! Come to find out there is a rabbit in the movie who talks about committing suicide, I haven't watched that movie but Broadie told me about it, I was in disbelief that a rated G movie had talk about suicide in it! WHAT IS THIS WORLD COMING TO!! THESE ARE KIDS! Why in the world would they want to put idea's like that into kids heads, they shouldn't even know what that is! I don't think they should be exposed to this crap and obviously rated G means nothing anymore and I will need to be more careful and screen better ..... who would have thought! On a good note, Broadie liked the movie, I just don't know that it will be one we will get :-)

Quick Note

So, I just thought I would give an update. The interview went ok, it was really tough and they asked a lot of ethical dilemma questions, not fun at all, but I think I was able to get through it ok. As of right now my status is still "IN REVIEW", whatever the crap that means :-) so that is where I stand, in review, I am dying, I don't want to be in review anymore ....

I went to the Dr. yesterday, because I had this spot on my leg, I thought it was an ingrown hair that wouldn't go away, so I go to the Dr yesterday and find out that it is not an ingrown hair, its a fibrodermatoma ...... yup had these before only they were firbroadenoma's .... I guess they are the same thing only one is inside the body and the other is in the skin, basically its a little skin tumor kinda thing, so I had a little surgery, and they cut it out, right there in the office, so OK that was a really big surprise, and I can't say I enjoyed it too much! I now have 4 stitches in my upper quad area and sitting is quite unpleasant cuz it squishes the stitches :-( and I cried all day yesterday .... I think I am really tired of these firbocrapolla stuff, and I was just in shock, going in to the Dr thinking its nothing, then finding out it really isn't nothing ... makes me think a big ol fibrocrapolla tumor is gonna take over my entire body and then I'll die... haha :-)

I think I'm a pretty positive person today, wouldn't you say :-)

Guitar Hero & Fun

So we found a new hobby this weekend, we discovered that us adults enjoy playing Guitar Hero more then the kids do, we rocked out to this all night with some friends, we went to Ralf and samantha's for enchilada night and found some fun with kid toys! Scotty and I decided we need to get a wii so we can play at our house too, it was a blast, here are some fun pictures and videos of us.
Sidney, Broadie, & Dillan
Scotty on Drums
Me on Base and Samanta on Guitar

Sidney singing and Brittney playing base

Jason and Scott rockin out!

Broadie and Dillan Rockin out, they are so cute playing, Dillin is really good at this game, he really gets into it, it's fun to watch, it was Broadie's first time playing but for a first time he did pretty good!

This was Scott when he was first learning to play, it is kind of hard to get in the groove of playing this game but the video is way funny.....:-)

Our group of friends

We taught Sidney (who is 3) to take pictures with the camera, she had fun with it!

For Christmas Broadie got a chemistry set that teaches him how to grow crystals, so him and Scott were trying it out!

Love this picture ~ what a cute, smart kid!

Yup, this is me, look what I can do, I can cut my hair :-)
Ok well, I decided to cut my hair off (yes we cut a TON off) and colored it to my natural color, believe it or not, this is my natural color, yup, I am dark brown! But the reason for the cut and color was because when I had that nasty bug for the last 6 months of my life, not only did it kill my stomach, it did some not so nice things to my hair, it really ruined my hair (I know, weird, but true), so I decided it was time to push the reset button on my hair now that I am healthy and get it growing again, I just thought it was time for a shorter, clean cut hair, and yes I do love it. I love longer hair better but this just needed to happen to get my hair healthy again ..... and it's really starting to grow! Hair is cool!
