To Be a Proud Parent

So I just need to brag a little because I am so proud of the little man my boy is growing up to be. Now that it is the end of the school year, awards of recognition are being handed out and I must say, I was impressed with all the ones that Broadie came home with today. So for memory sake I just had to show them off for him!

You all remember the reflections project that Broadie did at the beginning of the year. He drew the really good ocean picture, well we just found out that he won the regional award as well!!! He won a gift certificate and an award.

He is also on the Honor Role in 1st grade! WHO KNEW!! WHAT A SMARTIE!! Just so you know what he had to do to get this one was spell all the spelling words right ~ and he did it, he got 100%!! SWEET ~ Scott he is showing you up!

He also received a perfect attendance award. Way to Go Buddy!! Keep doing good in school.

He also received a few other things, like candy bars for being a nice friend to all the kids in his class, another candy bar for reading all of his sight words correct, and a little stuffed animal for reading all of his library books so well.

I am just so glad I have a kid that does so well in school and he is truely an amazing kid. He is just so much fun!

We went and watched Iron Man last night and now Broadies new goal is to build a suit just like Iron Man's, and he thinks that because he is a Scout (an engineer in the making) and Scott is an engineer that he can do it. Way to set good dreams and goals. I love it!! We just have way to much fun!!

And HOLY COW ~ can a 1st grader come home with any MORE awards!!

Broadie you ROCK!!

I gardened ~ OH MY!

So for those of you who know me, know that I am not a gardner. .. .... ... nope, don't really like to get dirty, don't like bugs of any type, and I hate weeding. But we have this flower garden in our front yard that was begging for attention. The people that lived there before us didn't take care of their yard at all, so it was overgrown and nasty. You couldn't even really see the flowers because there were soo many weeds, and there was a lot of dead and rotting leaves. Yuck! So, I went to the store and bought Broadie and I some gardening gloves (keep my hands clean and away from the bugs), and we jumped in there and did it. I was proud of myself, and I think it looks nice now. I did find a few strange things, I found a "herd" of rolly polly's and some rolly polly eggs, they were little white looking things, pretty cool we thought, and all sorts of bugs, Broadie loved it, me, not so much! BUT it was a fun time with Broadie out there, he talked my ear off the entire time, and he was a lot of help.
This is our freshly weeded flower garden. We have yellow, red, and 2 white flowers ~ SUPRISE. Its amazing what you can find when you weed :)
I found this, its a bush .... it looks illegal .... what is it?? Its a weird one, and is in a weird place, behind the tall tree on the side of our house. :) Its different looking for sure!

Here is the front of our house :) Inside pictures coming soon. It's cleaning up nicely we think :)

The Knack ~ Understanding Engineers

Just so you were aware of what I was saying about engineers ... here ya go! This is a funny video.

Broadies last Baseball game with the Blue Batters

Here are some pictures of Broadies last baseball game with the Blue Batters. They did really good and had a ton of fun. Scott was way excited that he got to coach again. He loves being out there playing with the boys and Broadie loves having him out there. Its great, I love watching and sun bathing .... I am fried, but it was worth every minute. :) Broadie playing 1st base .... with his back up coach in the back :)

Concentrating so hard .....

Batting
Wait ... Hold IT.... TIME OUT ... I loved it, we paused so the batter could tie his shoe

Scotts the catcher :)

Good Video of Broads batting again ... Sorry its bouncy I took the video with my camera :) so no stabilizer

Broadie running for home base ~ Scotts high five!

So this was his last baseball game with this team, but not too worry my ever so sporty family. I did find a summer baseball league and signed Broadie up for it. It looks like that one goes from June 9 - July 25, so you will have to make it up for a game this time, FOR SURE!

Investment

So, Saturday before Broadies last baseball game, we had some time to kill, what did we do, we went investment shopping! HAHA OK the truth is we went yard sale shopping. It was a blast, we bought something at each one we went to, Scotty scored a lawn edger for $1.00 and I scored some mini muffin tins for $0.30, and a sweet wood carved snowman that says "I LOVE SNOW"! It was fun, and Scott was funny, he kept saying we were investing for when we have a yard sale of our own!

We also took Broadie to a Boy Scout open house (Yes, it was Scott's idea) But I guess boys can't grow up without going through Scouts. Well Broadie learned all about it and he is so excited. He can't wait to start! So I guess it is good.... we will get him signed up.
I must admit, I am not too excited about it. Actually a little freaked out and I know everyone teases me about it, but I am really scared that they are going to go camping and my kido is going to be the one in a million that gets lost. (Ya hear about it all the time ... another boy scout is lost in the woods ~ never gets found). I am scared to be that statistic. I don't like the thought at all, so if it hadn't been for Scott's encouragement I don't know that I would have ever signed him up. I think it all stems from the fact that I am just scared of loosing my lil' kido.... when we go to the store, I still make him either sit in the cart or he has to hold on to the cart at all times (I am a little too strict about it but I don't want to loose him and I don't want some creepo to grab him) Poor kid, I know, he is 7, but oh well, better safe then sorry in my opinion. :)
I guess at least he is totally excited about it, he talks about it every day and he has to tell everyone that he is a Scout. It is actually really cute. I had no idea he would be this excited. He asked Scott if Scouts were engineers because they make things. Scott said they are engineers in the making, then asked Broads if he wants to be an engineer ..... BROADIES ANSWER >>>> YEP!!! (OH NO!!! ~ if you know an engineer you understand my oh no) ~ and its meant in a totally ever so perfect and orderly way :) haha
I LOVE MY BOYS :)

I believe .... I believe .... in the good. I believe that it's been a hell of a year, and I believe that, in the face of overwhelming evidence on the contrary, that we are all going to be okay. I believe a lot of things. I believe that loved ones are always with me. I believe that if I eat a tub of ice cream and nobody sees, the calories don't count. I believe that believing we survive is what makes us survive. Today's the day, people. Today is the day when dark and twistedness disappears forever, and bright and shiny takes its place. The sheer intensity of my happiness will make your teeth hurt, but I'm okay with that, because ... Life. Is. Good.

Results when Woman Doesn't Listen to Man

OOOWWWEEEE is what Woman said, I told you so is what man said.

So, this is what happens when I don't listen to my ever so loving engineer of a boyfriend..... Yes that is one sore finger!!! So Sunday, I decided to put on the cover to my license plate on my car. Not to difficult right, and me being the stubborn independent person that I am thought, Nah,... I don't need a man to do it, I can do it .... it should be really simple. Well, for starters it had screwed up screws, wouldn't work with a normal screw driver .... who knew, you needed a star thingy ... so I asked Scott if he had one ... nope he didn't. So what did I do, I grabbed a pair of needle nose pliers. That will do it I thought. Scott told me, "I wouldn't use those if I were you. Let's find something different." I said, "No its ok, this will work, I can do it." Not 2 seconds later I had my finger squished in the strangest of places .... between the needle nose pliers ... now how did my finger get in there, WHO KNOWS!! Dumb Blondie again I guess. So anyways, my finger swoll up to the point I couldn't bend it .... ice didn't help, drugs didn't help, so I declared it a medical emergency and had Scott take me to get ICE CREAM! That did make it all better!! I sure love my Scotty :)

I guess I was out of my element here .... all I have to say is that I am a happy independent, successful woman and I like it that way (even though I don't know how to work tools ... that's why we marry men right) HAHA

Look at what HE can do!

My ever so fun puppy has grown a set of bunny legs. His 9 pounds can really jump when he wants to. He has learned how to jump over a baby gate (keep in mind this baby gate is sitting on the second stair). I was trying to keep Odie out of the upstairs until we finish it, there may nails or unsafe puppy things he could get into .... guess my baby gate method won't work anymore. Bummer, I will have to figure something else out :)

Good Morning!!! ~ NOT

Look at what NASTYNESS we woke up to!! This is what I saw when I woke up this morning and looked out the window. This is the view Broadie and I got out of his bedroom window this morning!! We were sooooo sad :( It had been so nice and warm, we were loving it, then mother nature got confused AGAIN!
On a good note, here are some cute pictures of my little monster playing baseball. He has just loved playing and I love to watch him play even more. It is so much fun!
