ALLERGY ALERT

Beans, Beans the magical fruit, the more you eat the more you toot. The more you toot the better you feel so lets have beans for every meal!! HA-HA ~ Thanks for teaching me that uncle Ken!! Well they aren't so much the magical fruit in my family anymore ~ we found out today that Broadie is SEVERELY Allergic to the legume family.... which means all beans and peas. How ironic ~ Broadie hates peas and beans!!! Guess we know why now. So he can't eat any peas and beans, which means we have to be really careful with things like soups, because those are in a lot of soups! They are in a lot of foods actually, so fun for us and bummer for Broads.
For those of you who didn't hear the story or weren't there when it happened, on Christmas Eve I gave Broadie a bite of Split Pea soup, just to see if he would like it, because that is what we were having for dinner. That was a big mistake. Within just a few minutes of him tasteing the soup, his lips swoll up like bubba gump, his face turned red, he was itchy, and very sick to his stomach. He also started to get wheezy. It was really scary to watch. I have read a lot about these type of reactions but I have never actually seen one and I really hope I never see one of my kids go through that again! So we gave him some benadryl which helped (obviously). The doctor said with how bad his reaction was that we were really lucky that the Benadryl worked at all.... wow, kinda scary!!
The doctor prescribed an epipen, and I took one to the school incase he has a reaction there and I also will keep one here at the house. I also made sure the school was clear on his allergy and they even took the time to go over the menu's with me to find out what he can and can't have at school. The lunch ladies are also aware so they can help keep an eye on him.
So anyways, now we know the root of all evil for Broadie ~ so here is your warning!! DON'T FEED HIM LEGUMES!! PLEASE (beans and peas)!!

Bowling Lessons for Broadie ~ STRIKE!!

Broadie at his bowling lessons

Broadie has been taking bowling lessons for the past few weeks. He goes every tuesday night for one hour and he loves he. It has been a lot of fun for him. I am kind of bumbed because I thought I had video of him bowling a strike but I am a dumb blonde some days and forgot to push record .... so I got this one which was still way awesome! Its really fun to watch him....

Engineers Edible Car Contest

Scotts engineering club had a competition where they had to build a completely edible car. (And yes it actually had to work). It was a lot of fun to watch so I thought I would share it with you. The rules were that it had to be within certain dimensions, be completely edible, be made of at least 5 different food groups, the wheels had to be able to rotate, and it couldn't leak oil or leave emissions (no leakage out of the food :) ) They were judged on appearance, speed, and distance (and yes I was able to be one of the judges) Here is a video and some pictures of the truck that Scotty built. The axel on his truck broke at the bottom of the ramp but it was still a lot of fun to watch (I guess the froot loop straws don't work so well for that purpose). Haha who would have known!!! I guess engineers have to learn somehow huh!!

Just Cuz

Well I have to admit, I think all three are pretty darn cute so I thought I would post some cute pictures just because I can!!

Puppy Surgery

Well, my cute lil Odie Puppy had to have surgery on his mouth on Friday, and I'll tell ya, it felt like one of my kids having to have surgery .... it was horrible. Here are the before pictures of his shark mouth (check out the 2 rows of teeth~ amazing). His puppy teeth wouldn't fall out (its called retention I guess, and its common in the smaller breeds) as all of his adult teeth were growing in, so he had to have surgery to remove his puppy teeth. Also, on top of his puppy teeth not falling out as they should have, ALL of his permanent teeth were growing in at the same time (they usually come in waves ~ but not for Odie) so he has been pretty cranky and has been crying a lot because it was quite painful for the little guy!
The surgery went well and he is back to his normal self. On the plus side he is not such a cranky bear any more, he is much nicer and more pleasant. Still chewing but not nearly as much, and no more nights where he cries all night long!! What a good boy he is being .... I have a cute picture of him but its on my camera which is in my car and its way too cold to go out there so maybe I will post it tomorrow!!

Cheer him on!! Broadie is playing T-Ball

So, I know it has been a while since I have posted anything but really nothing has been going on in our lives. Pretty boring ... nothing exciting, until now. Now I have a bunch of things to blogg about so there will be a lot within the next few days!! HORRAY .... ya I know, its about time :)
So, last week I decided to sign Broads up for T-Ball. I am so excited, I don't know that he really knows what it is but he is excited too! I think it will be a lot of fun to watch them play. Cute rugrats hitting the ball and running the bases. His games will be every Saturday and he starts the end of March and goes through May. We are pretty excited. I think it will be a good way for him to meet some more friends that he has something in common with and its a great chance for him to learn something new. I think this is just what Broads needs, so I am really excited for him. We all need to cheer him on and teach him to PLAY BALL!! GO BROADS!! I LOVE YOU BUDDY!!
